Established 75 years ago, Aksu-Jabagly is one of the oldest

fields and steppes, magnificent juniper forest, springs
and rivers and rocks. In spring the landscape is covered

are 27 endemic plant species and about 25% of Kazakhstan's
flora are represented. 9 out of the 238 bird species present
are under protection, such as Egyptian Vulture, Golden
Eagle and Black Storks. Arkhar Wild Sheep, Brown Bear
and Snow Leopard inhabit the canyons of the reserve.
Further
nearby places of interest include the Karatau Mountains,
South Kazakhstan Steppe lakes, the Chokpak ornithological
observatory and the nearby Moyinkum desert..
Access to the Aksu-Jabagly reserve is possible from the
village of Jabagly (formerly Novonikolayevka), and from
Tulkubas railway station some 100 km from Chimkent or
Taraz.
Of course you can book stays in Zhabagly through STANtours.
