Ensi
Gallery - Ashgabat
Ensi Gallery is a refined
personal project of Leyla Khaidova, a determined Turkmen
Arts lover and fashion designer. |
The Ensi is the window-cross-style carpet pattern, that
usually endorns the entry to a festive Yurt as seen in
the centre of the image above.
In her tiny gallery Leyla displays an excellent private
collection of ancient Turkmen dress and jewellery from
the various Turkmen tribes. Further there is a splendid
selection of her own modern Couture in which she is using
almost forgotten traditional dyeing, weaving and embroidery
techniques.
]
A visit to Ensi is usually combined with an outdoor fashion
presentation of the combined modern and traditional collection
of our host as well as a folklore presentation of some
of the most traditional Turkmen dances and songs.
